RP Data benefits from adoption of NetApp EF-Series storage systems

NetApp customer showcases its success at NetApp ‘Elevate’ events

NetApp has hosted its annual Elevate series, with the event kick-starting in Melbourne and Sydney. The five breakfast events bring NetApp’s partners, customers and members of the media together, with NetApp showcasing its innovations within the storage and data management ecosystem.

Now in its third year, the event also highlights many of NetApp’s long-standing partner relationships. This year, NetApp is working with its customer RP Data, Australia’s leading property data and analytics provider, to illustrate how NetApp’s technologies can be used to transform the ways in which businesses address and utilise their data

NetApp began working with RP Data eight years ago, at a point where its IT system was facing an entire overhaul. Having initially implemented a FAS3070 MetroCluster, RP Data has become an advocate for NetApp’s EF Series products

Clients rely on RP Data to help identify and manage growth opportunities, improve performance and mitigate risk. RP Data employs over 330 people at over 10 locations in Australia and New Zealand

"After implementing the NetApp solution, we were beginning to find ourselves in a situation where our server couldn’t keep up with our storage capabilities," stated Adrian Jansz, infrastructure manager for RP Data, “Now, in our eighth year of working with NetApp, our data imports are taking less than three and a half hours to complete compared to over 10 hours on our original configuration,” he added

“Our work with RP Data is a great example of how we work as a broker of service for our clients, it’s through working with such companies that we’re now beginning to re-define Tier 1 storage, where we’re really defining it to a business outcome,” stated Martin

“As part of our data transformation, we’ve reduced our database transfers from three hours to less than 50 minutes. The high speed of processing and delivering reports is of vital importance to our customers, such as Australia’s largest banks who rely on our reports everyday,” added Jansz

The Elevate event series will continue to take place throughout February, with the next event being held in Brisbane before moving to Wellington and Auckland. The event also involves other NetApp customers such as Queensland Brain Institute and Digital Sense. Further information and details on how to register can be found here
