iseek Offers Back Up Cloud Service with NetApp StorageGRID Webscale

Leading cloud, data centre and connectivity provider delivers object based storage to attract new customers

NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) today announced that iseek Communications, Brisbane’s leading cloud, data centre and connectivity provider, has introduced a backup cloud service offering to its customers, based on NetApp’s enterprise grade object storage technology.

iseek Object Based Storage (OBS) is a platform built on NetApp StorageGRID Webscale, available locally to attract new customers with mid to long term storage requirements. The data is securely stored in iseek’s Brisbane based data centres with year round accessibility. This ensures a solution which delivers true scale, reliability and flexibility meeting a wide range of business needs.

“With iseek OBS, we can offer advanced cloud storage functionality at a competitive cost.,” said Ian Porter, COO, iseek. “We are also able to deliver solutions that address the specific needs of our customers by quickly responding to their changing business requirements and achieving greater operational efficiencies."

iseek has implemented an S3 offering as a local alternative to the hyperscalers for their customers, ensuring their data remains safe and secure in its Queensland data centres, and compliant with regulations. Given data sovereignty is a key requirement for their customers, iseek was able to offer this service with OBS.

“NetApp understood our business model and built a solution where we were able to develop tailored solutions with our customers. Together with a very positive experience with its support team, and the crucial benefit of data sovereignty, we are thrilled to be working with NetApp to deliver the best possible outcome for our customers,” added Porter.

StorageGRID Webscale is the foundational platform in NetApp’s approach to object storage. NetApp is extending its reach to more customers who can gain significant business advantages, through its flexibility of licensing, the option to build different back up policies and offerings to customers, and the ability to run on any storage.

“We are delighted at the opportunity to work with an Australian company to help it get the most from its strategic IT investments for data management that delivers the speed, security, and scalability needed,” said Steve Manley, Vice President – NetApp South Pacific. “Leveraging over 10 years of enterprise object-storage experience, StorageGRID Webscale provides a foundation for software-defined, globally distributed object stores with policies that enable IT to govern data placement and protection worldwide.”
