NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) today announced that Nexon Asia Pacific, an Australian company delivering innovative business technology services, has introduced a new Backup as a Service offering built on NetApp AltaVault and StorageGRID Webscale with E-series for its customers. Nexon are also transitioning to an all-flash data centre with the implementation of the NetApp All Flash FAS storage systems into their production environment.
This investment cements a long term strategic partnership with NetApp, which Nexon has built its business on over the past six years. It was also in response to demands in a competitive market where customers are looking for more cost effective managed storage solutions as well as solutions that could ensure data sovereignty.
“The consumption of data storage by our customers is increasing and they are demanding more performance from their applications. As a result, they expect innovative technology that delivers the performance while maintaining services such as back up and disaster recovery. With NetApp All Flash FAS storage efficiencies, we can also meet their storage capacity and performance needs today and in the future at a lower cost through a cost per gigabyte per month model,” said Justin Bailey, Business Lead, Cloud Infrastructure , Nexon.
Nexon is leveraging the innovation that NetApp delivers to the next generation data centre and is now adopting flash technology for production workloads in its cloud environment, Nexon Agile Business Cloud. The solution integrates seamlessly with Nexon’s existing FlexPod data centre platform, meaning no new education process was required for its engineers to learn a new platform. To clients, this means they enjoy better performance in capacity and business application utilisation, and enhanced cost efficiencies.
Data sovereignty is also a key consideration in the technology decision making process, “data is retained within Australia which is important to our clients who face pressure to address associated risks around data privacy and security,” added Bailey.
“We value our long standing relationship with Nexon, particularly in working with them to deliver greater performance, scalability, and availability through our flash storage technology. We are also pleased to have worked with Nexon to introduce a cost-effective storage consumption model that maximises the business value of IT for their customers,” said Steve Manley, ANZ vice president, NetApp.
Nexon received an honourable mention this year at the NetApp Innovation Awards based on its implementation of flash technology.
